Painting is an opportunity to focus on the beauty of the world. The easel becomes a window — a place to attend to light, color, shadow, and atmosphere as it is revealed in the moment — and meet it with appreciation. It is both grounding and uplifting. Painting also serves as a place to comprehend others’ experience — an expression, the placement of objects or the arrangement of personal spaces. Finally, painting is a place to meet the kindness and generosity of fellow artists.
Mary Perona
“Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.”
